Devices can be configured through a variety of methods:
-
Manually via local admin directly on each individual device. (required for Free version)
-
Configuration file* uploaded via Chrome Management Console
-
Configuration file* uploaded via Kiosk Dashboard
*Settings may be specified generally in the policy to apply to all devices, or they may be set specific to the device by Kiosk Device Management Console UUID or Chrome Management Console Asset ID.
Import & Export
Configuration .JSON files (for upload via a Management Console or importing locally) can be imported (Professional and Enterprise versions only) and exported from application via the “Import” and “Export” buttons found on the manual configuration page. Generally, system administrators will keep an installation of Kiosk on their local machines for the purpose of generating and managing config files. Alternatively, config JSON files may be edited manually.
Uploading Configurations
You have two options for uploading configurations to managed devices:
1. Kiosk Device Management Console: simply log in to your account at https://dashboard.kiosk.cook.company, upload your exported config files under the “Configurations” section and apply them to specific devices through the “Devices” section.
2. Chrome Management Console. A guide for uploading a configuration policy file for installed applications can be found here: https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6177447?hl=en
File Format
Configuration files are specified in JSON format. The schema is based on the Chromium App and Extension Policy format.
