Screen is very dim after first launching

I have a few different touchscreen monitors that are running the 9.3.0 version of the Kiosk App. On about half of these screens, the image appears to be at least 50%-75% dimmer than it should be. This occurs directly after launching the app and it occurs consistently on the same screen.

I have however found a workaround to this issue, but it still is less than ideal.

We have simply pressed (ctrl +a) and then before inputting any credentials press (esc). This brings the brightness back to the screen and it appears normal.
